A Former Airship Hanger
Tropical Islands Resort is immense with the indoor section of the waterpark being located inside a giant dome. This enormous dome was originally built as an airship hanger for CargoLifter AG with almost 14,000 tonnes of steel used in the domes construction. For the airships, the building was designed as a volume-optimised and aerodynamic “tailor-made suit”. The colossal dimensions placed high demands on the planners as the construction had to cope with the snow and rain from 70,000 square metres of roof, and the heating system had to regulate the temperature of over five million cubic metres of air.
One of the Largest Free-standing Hangars in the World
The gigantic Dome is considered one of the largest free-standing hangars in the world. It is big enough to house many of the worlds landmarks including The Statue of Liberty or the Eiffel Tower.
Jungle Splash Water Playground
Those looking for a more sedate experience can enjoy a leisurely ride on the “Crazy River” and younger guests can have a great time at the Jungle Splash water playground! Covering more than 650 square metres and with a total height of over 15 metres, featuring 8 water slides and many additional play opportunities, it is one of the largest in Germany.
Germany’s Biggest Water Slide Tower
An incredible water slide adventure is waiting for you at Tropical Islands! Featuring Germany’s biggest water slide tower with an incredible height of 27 metres, there are five different slides to experience.
The Double Racer water slide at Tropical Islands is more than 200 metres long. See how your competitors are getting on as you race alongside them in serval sections of the slide. Hold on tight, this is not for the faint-hearted!
Lagoon
The 1,200 square meter lagoon is a particularly magical place where you can immerse yourself in a tropical world and enjoy unforgettable moments. In the evening, the magical lighting adds a special touch. The lagoon is an oasis in Tropical Islands’ paradise. Let yourself drift in the water and be captivated by the unique holiday feeling as world-class landscape architecture meets recreation. The lagoon is surrounded by high-quality lodges and accommodation. A sandstone rock formation, modelled on the famous Rock of Gibraltar, juts out of the landscape. Towering palm trees, a Balinese hut and a watchtower (Kulkut) add architectural touches. The 32-degree water features a current channel, underground slides and whirlpools that invite relaxation and tropical water fun. The grotto and the impressive waterfall create a unique mystical atmosphere.
Amazonia
AMAZONIA, the outdoor area of Tropical Islands, is open year round. This 35,000m2 area features numerous water attractions, extensive sunbathing and sports areas, as well as wellness, sports and recreation options for the whole family. Here you will find a large outdoor poo and Whitewater River, the longest whitewater channel in Germany. For those looking for an adrenaline fix head for Pororoca, an outdoor surf simulator.
World’s Largest Indoor Rainforest
Go on an exciting expedition in the world’s largest indoor rainforest with around 50,000 plants and 600 different plant species. The mangrove swamp is home to animals including turtles, dragon fish, flamingos and pheasants.
